After Freddy sacrifices himself to send Vanny plummeting her demise, Gregory unmasks her to discover that, surprise, surprise, Vannesa is the one beneath the mask. Regardless, it seems these two characters are the same person and the Fire Escape ending initially seems to confirm that suspicion. Honestly, not very smart for a serial killer to just shorten their name and hope no one notices. ![]() She's the only other person you see in the mall, she's always around when Vanny appears and, well, her name is literally Vannessa. Throughout the story, there are numerous hints that the Pizzaplex's strong-willed security guard is actually the one behind the mask. It's evident resurrecting the serial killer was one step of the plan (as we see in the True Ending), but the rest is left vague.Īs much as sentient viruses and mind-controlled bunnies are strange, the Vanny storyline only gets weirder in the latter half of Security Breach's campaign. It makes plenty clear that she's a puppet being used by Afton, although for what purpose is still mostly unclear by the time the plot wraps up. She's seemingly been freed from Afton's control. Once he's done playing the game, Vanny's disappeared, leaving only her mask behind. During the good Vanny ending, Gregory releases Vanny using a game called Princess Quest III, finding and opening the same door the player was locked behind during Help Wanted. The game shows Vanny's mind control physically, with Afton locking her away behind a large metal door and seizing control.Īlthough it was all but confirmed in Help Wanted, Security Breach cements that Vanny and the protagonist are indeed one and the same. However, during her time with the game, she accidentally comes across something much more sinister.īy collecting a series of tapes left behind by a developer, Vanny unleashes Glitchtrap: a virtual recreation of William Afton that manages to take over her mind. A beta tester brought in to trial an official Freddy Fazbear game, the events of Help Wanted see the player (and thus Vanny) navigate through recreated interpretations of prior Five Nights titles.
